A couple of days ago on Monday night, a few good friends around the dorm and I decided to do more fireworks and then had to relocate to the car park because we were being too loud. Then suddenly we saw a few shooting stars! It turned out that the Perseid Meteor Shower was occurring. Amazing! I never thought I would get the opportunity to see a meteor shower!! It was magical and so surreal, even if there was a good amount of artificial lighting in the car park and surrounding areas, however living in the countryside has its perks in the end.
Lying down on the warm asphalt, chatting away and watching the stars until the sun began to rise was something I’ve definitely never done before but there’s a first for everything. Unfortunately I have no photos to show for this experience but I would not be forgetting it any time soon.
Along with the shooting stars, just being around my friends was enough. And the crazy thing was that the 7 of us came from 7 different regions around the world and yet we can all communicate with each other in Japanese. It was nevertheless bizarre but all the more fun.
It also made me realize that some of my friends will be going back to their home countries soon. In fact a couple of them will be leaving the dorm today. Slowly, the names will start disappearing from the board in the lobby and it’ll be a sad sight for sure. Of course, new students will be coming in from October but even so I will miss my friends dearly. Hopefully the opportunity will rise when we’ll all meet again, no matter where.
